Ikea Repurposed

Updated: Aug 19, 2021

We love a creative challenge and NYC is full of them. Stack Solutions was recently contracted to run low voltage wiring (ethernet cables) in an old building. These NYC buildings often have many layers of existing conduit and unpredictable secrets behind the walls.

Our client required 8 lines run into two offices, leaving us in need of a cheap conduit solution for 16 total shielded cat 6 cables--very thick cables.

In our warehouse, we found an unused Ikea cabinet that would provide a PERFECT thin and safe covering for our wires. A few 1" by 2" pieces of wood from Home Depot acted as the top and bottom for this custom conduit. A couple of cuts and concrete screws later, we had a bespoke conduit solution for our client without wasting costs or previously unused materials.
